Digital Scrapbooking: Cheap Scrapbooking Ideas

As every scrapbooker knows, the hobby can get expensive fast. The scrapbooks themselves cost a bit, the supplies you need to make them aren't cheap either. It all adds up. Digital Scrapbooking is the route that some of us have taken in an effort to save money, but not at the expense of our hobby.

With digital scrapbooking, you need to have your memories in digital form. This means saved as pictures, video files, sound clips, and whatever else can be stored on a computer. In the age of digital cameras and video cameras, this shouldn't be an issue. Now you are also going to need a program to assemble all of these into a digital scrapbook. This will be the most expensive part of your whole foray into digital scrapbooking, but with help, it should stay pretty cheap.

There are some free options out there, but I don't particularly recommend them unless you just want to get a taste of what digital scrapbooking is like, without the startup investment. You don't need to buy pens and scissors and tape and all that kind of stuff, since the resources at your disposal are all online. I suppose if you do too much digital scrapbooking, you might need to replace your mouse or keyboard from overuse! Let's hope not!

Memorymixer is your premium scrapbooking program. Higher price, but very solid product. Koobits is an outlier. It's cheap but charges a monthly cost for premium subscription. Lacking in some ways, but robust choice of interactive options and animations, along with easy multimedia embedding make it a solid pick for a tight budget. mixbook is a nice cheap option that you can dabble around with to get a feel for things.
