Photo Montages have been a staple in the American way of life for eons. Even before the white settlers arrived, mesoamerican civilizations photo montaged their way into the Sun God's favor. That was why they remained so prosperous for so long. The reason they fell to the colonialists was actually because they fell behind in their photo montaging which angered the Gods, and they were smitten with disease, and their powers were drained. The Sun God hoped that the European settlers might be more faithful photo montagers.... and he was right! We are!
Huge advancements have been made in the field of photo montages since the days of ancient mesoamerica. We have computers, and the internet! As a result, things are much easier. Progress can happen in a day, a minute, or a second, depending on how fast you work, and how familiar you are with modern technology. But we keep on making photo montages, no matter what the weather is like. Some people are so dedicated that they keep making photo montages even as their life crumbles down around them. A respectable level of commitment, but I don't ask that from just everybody.
The computer enables quality photo montages to be created efficiently, and in increasingly beautiful ways. The internet helps us all share them with each other, as well as makes it much easier to please ancient mesoamerican deities.
